Tribute To Mom
My nieces would always come over to my house on weekends since my sister would usually need to work on those days. As a single mother, I try my best to help out my sister in getting her life back on track after her divorce. I know that this will be a long way to go, but I am just relieved and happy to see that my sister is doing her best to make things right.
Last week in preparation for mother’s day I decided that we make mother’s day cards for my sister while we were waiting for her to finish her work appointments. I got some stationery supplies, coloring materials and cutting dies and my nieces and I spent the entire morning making them. By the mid-afternoon we went out to buy flowers and balloons, and prepared dinner. My sister was so touched that she cried when she saw everything.
One Pattern
I have an open layout in my house, something I opted for because I wanted to be able to make my space appear bigger than it actually is. This one worked, because my place looks really big and continuous. The problem is, I am having a hard time being able to differentiate one place from the other. I wanted to have a break in each of the areas to determine which part is which.
That was when my sister stepped in to help me out with my dilemma. Since she is an interior designer, she knows a whole lot about these things. She got those Accent Stencils 4×5 Serendipity from the internet and used the same to separate my dining area from my living room area by forming a pattern in the space. She added furniture to divide the room and the plan worked out perfectly.
Busy Bees
My nephews and nieces can be quite a rowdy bunch whenever they are together. There would be instances when my sister would ask me if I can baby sit them whenever they have dinners together with her husband or have certain events which they need to attend. Since I love kids, I have no problems having them stay over in my house.
In my home, I always have tons of arts and crafts supplies which I use whenever my nephew and nieces are around. I prefer to make things more productive whenever they come over, so instead of watching television or playing video games I try to think of ways for them to enjoy and still learn something in the process. This is something I learned for being a teacher for many years.
Keeping Busy
My husband and I are having difficulty conceiving, which is why I have decided to quit my job and make time for starting a family. I have always been a career oriented person, growing up with both my parents busy with their respective careers. This is the reason why I hardly have the time to be at home, more so there are instances when I would even need to be on business trips for my job.
These days though, I have been busying myself spending time at home and managing the household. Recently I have also discovered the joys of sewing, something my friend had introduced me to in order to deal with the boredom at home. I have just gotten a Janome sewing machine to help me make better projects and beautify the house. Nowadays, I wonder why I never chose to follow this path, as I have enjoyed my life as it is at this point.
All Wrapped Up
My wedding is in a few days, and I have to admit that I am feeling a bit jittery with all the things happening. I have been stressed for a long time since I first started planning on the wedding. There were a few glitches here and there which got my relationship with my husband and a few friends to the test because I was losing it.
One of the things which needed to be prepared for the wedding was the giveaways. Customized chocolates we ordered wrapped in beautiful plastic in the color of our wedding theme, and tied with personalized ribbon with our initials on it that we also ordered on the internet. All the materials were already delivered except for the chocolates, and with hundreds to prepare I was really nervous that we would not make it in time. It was a good thing I have friends who were more than willing to help out just to get everything ready before the big day.
Personalized Decor
In our home, instead of dealing with having to purchase decorative pieces and items I would need in order to enhance my space, I make use of a number of alternatives in order to save on costs. I have not really been the type who would go and invest on expensive items. I am more of the practical person who would want to decorate without having to make a huge hole in my pocket.
One of the things which I use in order to decorate my house is the paintings which my kids themselves have made. I have some of them framed and placed in different walls of my house. There is one by the living room hallway in a display easel, featuring the best work of my eldest son. Since art is in our system, this allows me to make use of our talent in order to beautify the home.
Heavy Duty
I wanted to make sure that I would be able to work on a lot of projects at home, especially now that I have decided to become a full time mother. Back then I would only be busy with work and deadlines, until I realized that there is more to life than my career. I have a family which is my priority and I would do anything for them. That was when I decided to quit my job and be a stay at home mother.
One of the things I love to do is to sew, something I only discovered now that I stay at home. I have a metal sewing machine which allows me not only to design my own clothes; I am also able to work with a number of projects to decorate the space that I have. I have never felt so happy and accomplished in my life, now that I have decided to be a full time mother and wife.
Birthday Dress
My daughter is turning two next week, and we are planning a big celebration for her. After having to wait for a few years before I conceived her, there is a great possibility that we would no longer be able to bear a child. This is why we have shifted all our attention to our baby since she is such a miracle and a blessing in our life.
For her birthday, I wanted to be the one to personally make the dress she will be wearing. I got some materials in pink to make the dress more appropriate for her. I was even able to order ribbon roses from the internet which I would make use to cover up the upper front part of the dress. I am hoping that the dress turns out wonderfully; and more importantly that we are able to enjoy the party we are throwing next weekend.
Special Presents
I was so happy that I am finally able to come home after missing out on the holidays for the first time ever. I was assigned to be in charge of a project in Europe and I needed to stay there for almost half a year. It seemed as if I had missed out on so many things, so when I landed right back home I decided to file a few weeks off so I can fly out this time to my parents’.
I felt really guilty when I had to miss out the Christmas season so although it is al few months late, I still decided to get them presents. I had some wrapping paper in Christmas themes, together with some gift tags and curling ribbon to make the presents ever so beautiful. I am so excited to see everyone, and with presents with me I still believe that it is better late than never.
Easy Transformation
When I was able to get an apartment for my kids and I after my divorce with my husband, I looked forward to the fact that I can now start to move on from the situation. Staying in our old home was something I no longer wanted; as this will remind me of the painful past I had endured. At least I can start anew by coming to a new place where we can continue on with the rest of our lives.
The rooms of the apartment were decorated by the previous owner into something more mature. This is why I opted to use wall decals for the kids’ room so I can at least transform the space into something more appropriate for their age. They were excited about having their own room and having the same decorated like they were in wonderland. At least I am happy that my kids too are welcoming this change.
